Mary, a Chicago Youth Symphony Orchestras (CYSO) alumnus, performed the Midwest premiere of Vivian Fung's Concerto for Trumpet and Orchestra with the CYSO on Sunday, November 14th, 2021 at Chicago Symphony Center, Orchestra Hall, Chicago. During the concert, Mary was presented with the CYSO 2021 Alumni Award.

The program was conducted by Allen Tinkham and assistant conductor Steven Gooden. In addition to Mary’s performance on trumpet, violinist Bianca Ciubancan and clarinetist Louis Auxenfans were featured.

In the days following the concert, Mary recorded the Fung concerto with the CYSO Orchestra for Cedille Records. The concerto will appear on Mary’s next solo album, due for release in 2024.
